Big congrats to Newark's own Michael B Jordan for winning the NAACP's Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture Award for his performance in Just Mercy!

Just Mercy is a 2019 American legal drama film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. It tells the true story of Walter McMillian who, with the help of young defense attorney Bryan Stevenson played by Michael B. Jordan, appeals his murder conviction. The film is based on the memoir of the same name, written by Stevenson.

Artstart 2020

Newark Arts established the ArtStart Grant Program in 2001 specifically to nurture arts and cultural activities throughout the City of Newark and to enhance the capacity of Newark’s non-profit organizations, schools, and individual artists to provide arts-based projects throughout the City’s five wards.

ArtStart events must take place between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021.
